One Global Logistics’ Journey to Certification

Certex is proud to congratulate One Global Logistics (OGL) on their ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ISO 45001 Safety Management Systems Certification for their Australian operations in July 2024.

ISO 9001 is one of the most widely recognised quality management standards around the world. It is designed to help organisations meet customer and stakeholder expectations while adhering to relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. The ISO 45001 standard, on the other hand, is a globally recognised standard that demonstrates to clients and employees that an organisation’s safety management system is compliant and is effectively managed and controlled.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, severe supply chain disruptions have greatly affected OGL and the logistics industry. In addition, other factors such as geo-political, terrorism, port congestion, port constraints, manpower shortages, cyber security, increased air and ocean freight and the increased frequency of severe weather events have impacted their business.

How did they respond?

James Sparke, Managing Director of OGL, explained, “One Global Logistics understands such extreme circumstances requires an agile and collaborative approach with [with suppliers and partners] whilst having internal disciplines in order to manage a high level of supply chain disruptions.”

To navigate these challenges, One Global Logistics adopted an agile and collaborative strategy, focussing on effective risk management and open communication with suppliers and customers. This approach ensured transparency and fostered trust, which, in turn, supported their ability to manage high levels of disruption.

OGL focused on strong “communications with suppliers and customers in order to provide information on supply disruptions and delays along the supply chain has been the key to our company expanding and being retained by all customers.”

Certification with Certex

Having recognised the need for improved higher levels of internal and external disciplines to sustain business operations and ensure uniformity across all business units, OGL embarked on the journey to achieve ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification.

Their preparation for certification involved rigorous assessments and the implementation of enhanced standards and practices.

“The process of gaining ISO 9001/45001 assisted our business with selecting suitable companies to collaborate with for business sustainability, risk management, and best practice deliverables to our customs and suppliers.”

ISO 9001 quality certification has helped OGL ensure consistency in business practices across the company, thus enhancing operational consistency and customer satisfaction, while the ISO 45001 safety certification has strengthened their health and safety management systems, which is crucial for maintaining a safe working environment and managing risks associated with logistics operations.

“ISO certification has refocused our business principles and practice and provided all business units with great surety of quality work and execution with a central focus on the correct frameworks to strive for in day-to-day operations and business performance.”

Having gone through the process of obtaining certification, OGL says it has seen a significant impact across several key areas of their business operations, including:

  1. Improved efficiency and productivity due to processes being more streamlined
  2. Effective risk management
  3. Improved employee morale and engagement due to more motivation and productivity in the workplace
  4. Continuous improvement in workplace processes

Further, they are confident that their certification will in turn benefit their customers as well in terms of consistent quality and improved service delivery.
